Story Type, Category and Sub-Category Relationships:

A Story type is bound to a blog.

A Category is bound to a story type.

A Subcategory is bound to a category.

  • Since a story type is bound to a blog, this means that two story types with the same name (regardless of their types) are different on each blogs.
  • Removing/changing a certain level requires erasing all levels below.
  • We can’t automatically transfer the categorization hierarchy from one blog to another.

Deleting Story Types/Categories/Sub-Categories:

As a blog owner or superuser, I cannot delete story types ever and will need to ask tech to do so.

As a blog owner or superuser, I can delete a category if there are no posts associated with it.

As a blog owner or superuser, I can delete a sub-category if there are no posts associated with it.

There is an error message if a blog owner clicks on a cat/subcat ‘trash can’ with posts associated and confirms the delete. It reads “This category/subcategory has posts associated with it and cannot be deleted.”

Editing Story Types/Categories/Sub-Categories:

As an author or superuser, I can change a posts blog and story type if there are no categories associated with it.
